Greenwood B & C
Having not played on this day at Greenwood Golf Course I made the observation, upon receiving the scorecards, that the course must have been in top notch condition, even better than usual, as the scoring was so high.
Maurice assured me it was indeed in excellent shape, but pointed out that they had played from the yellow tees. Aha!
However, let’s take nothing away from the efforts of the twenty-two players who still had to play well to achieve these scores.
Winner, Adam Barton, with Mike Firkin (L) and Chris Barker (R).
Leading the way with a mighty 42 points was Big Adam Barton who has been in good form on this rotation from his work.
Colin Service has been on the improve and just missed the elusive Green Jacket, having ‘only’ 41 points. Any other day it might have been good enough.
Greg Proctor, like Adam, has been consistent this trip and took third place with 40 points. It seems the more he plays the better he gets.
Darren Beavers held down fourth spot with a much improved game, scoring 39 points, and Wayne Peppernell grabbed the final place on the podium with a fine 38 points.
Near Pins were won by Wayne Peppernell (B2), Bill Copeland (B5), Paul Lanzetta (C6), while nobody was successful on (C3)

Without preamble or teasing, Phil called out Chris Barker for the “silly hat” for his not-that-bad eleven points on the front nine.
Phil wanted to tell the hard luck story of Mike Firkin who had to endure a player in the group with zero golfing ability or etiquette and was not in the comp. (not a regular of ours). Mike had the worst score of the day and Phil decided that he had some sympathy for him.
That sympathy lasted mere seconds and Mike got the “wig” anyway.
The weather was overcast at the start and later, after the clouds cleared, it became a little hotter, but overall a nice day on a beautiful golf course, and everybody happy to see some big numbers next to their name.
