1st Daryl Vernon (23) 36 points
2nd Robby Watts (7) 33 points
3rd Stuart Brown (8) 33 Points
Near pins Taro Yukimori, Stuart Brown X 2
A howling gale force wind made the course almost unplayable today, certainly anyone who didn’t play straight suffered the penalty. The sky was overcast and rain threatened a few times but luckily stayed away, enough rain fell overnight to eliminate much run on the fairways. The course was surprisingly busy, nevertheless, we were never held up and finished in regulation time.
Daryl Vernon continues to play solid golf to take first place by a three-shot margin, a reduction in handicap can’t be too far away Robby Watts sank a long putt on the last hole to edge out Stuart Brown on countback each with thirty-three points. Newcomer Taro Yukimori was on three near pins but only kept one with Stuart Brown taking two.
Wednesday, August 28th – Green Valley
1st Michael Brett (15) 36 points
2nd Jimmy Carr (15) 36points
3rd Robby Watts (7) 35 points
Near pins Steve Durey, Les Cobban X 2.
Following last weeks Singha Championship the Greenvalley course was expected to be in great order and so it was. However, the greens had not been cut since and were slower than expected but still were ok. Yet another day when the wind was very strong, perhaps two club worth when playing into it, which seemed much of the time.
In a rare occurrence since we started playing this course on a regular basis local member Stuart Brown failed totally today, Robby Watts had twenty-two on the front nine but inexplicably fell away totally on the back to end in third place with thirty-five points. Jimmy Carr and Michael Brett fought out first place with the latter taking it on countback. Despite a complete off day by his standards full of hooks and off drives, Les Cobban managed to bag two near pins with the other going to Steve Durey.
Friday, August 30th – Khao Kheow A & B

2nd Robby Watts (7) Net 74
3rd Stuart Brown (8) Net 75
Near pins Takeshi Hakozaki, Robby Watts, Chris Dopp & Geoff Cox.
The last game of August was played under grey dull skies in windy conditions on the A & B nines at Khao Kheow. Rain fell intermittently throughout the round, but never heavy enough to stop play. The game was played at a good pace and finished in three & a half hours. Despite overnight rain, there was no need to use the pick, clean, and place rule.
Gerry Cooney winner at Khao Kheow
The format for today game was medal and in the testing conditions scoring was so difficult that at least three cards were marked “no return”. The winner was Gerry Cooney who is continuing to play well with a net seventy-two. One of his superb drives brought back memories of former glories, Gerry has his name on every honor board in the club. Robby Watts took second place whilst not playing to his best was still good enough to score a net seventy-four. Stuart Brown brought up the rear with seventy-five. Takeshi Hakozaki, Robby Watts, Chris Dopp, and Geoff Cox all got near pins.
For the second month in a row, we didn’t have to look too far to find golfer of the month with Robby Watts going back to back again by a big margin, will somebody stop him bringing up three in a row?. As it stands Robby is in a different class to the rest of the team.
